New Season, New Look

Scissors

Growing up, my mom had always kept my hair pretty long and feminine – creating intricate braids and up-dos with ribbons and sparkly things. But as I started to develop my own identity during my young adolescent years, I one day decided I wanted a layered long bob after seeing a model sport it in my Delia’s catalogue (remember those?) Proudly taking the clipping to a local beauty salon, I told the stylist that I wanted my hair EXACTLY like the model.

Imagine the horror when the stylist went scissor-happy and pretty much chopped off all my long locks, leaving me with a boy-cut, that’s right, a boy-cut, without even a single layer! Holding back tears while my mom complained to the stylist, I vowed never ever to cut my hair short again…that is until after college, when I realized how chic a cute short cut is, especially when you can style it and wear a little makeup to soften the look.

Although I would probably not go for a boy-cut in a while (not brave enough still), I am itching for a new style as my hair has grown quite long as of late. I did venture from my norm and get a shoulder length long bob last year, but now I’m thinking, time to go shorter? Although my long-locks loving husband may have a good, short cry, I think it would be so fresh and modern for the spring. Besides, hair grows back! My only concern is that I will go through the remorse stage that most girls go through after chopping their hair and pining for their long locks again…what do you think? Here are some of my inspirations.

Now if only I could convince my husband how utterly feminine, sexy and chic these looks are…
